Why do you think the author has created these problems?

Hackle has fallen down a glacier crack and almost died, but managed to survive by climbing back up, as we already know. Also they are heading for the South Pole, and there are some doubts about the food supplies. Hackle, Eddie and the Comander are worried about the amount of sustinance that they have. I would like people to do me (and themselves) a favour by writing (r rather, typing) the place that they are up to so I can type about the place where they person who has read the least is, and doing so not spoil it for anybody. Thankyou. Aims =o)
Shaver and Dundee:Shaver has gone of the ship without permission with Dundee but Dundee got atacked by a dog got. They didnt solve the problem because Dundee died. I would not have gone off the ship.
The Commander, Hacle and Pedro have been on their journey to the south pole for nineteen days. They have to ration their food even more than the Commander had calculated as they are at the mercy of the weather. If I was in their position, I would probably turn back. I hate the cold so I probably wouldn't even be in th Unknown Land(Antarctica)!! I think the author(Meridith Hooper) created these problems to make the story more interesting. I think the problems she has created tell us more about the characters. For example, we now know that The Commander is able to calculate how much food they need ect.
I think beacuse she is basing the story on the expedition of the ship Discovery and commander Scott. Though instead of the story being about people it was about rats.
The commander has ordered Eddie and Hackle to accompany him on the search for the south pole. Hackle and Eddie have agreed to come. The commander has made deports with food buried under the snow. It turns out that they dont have enough food to survive on their journey. Hackle divides his lucky mss into three and shares it with Eddie and The commandener. When they get back onto he ship, their friends greet them, and then they celebrated by eating delicious foods (for rats). Later on, they see they see masks of other ships. This is all I hae read so far.

There is Hackle and Eddie.
One problem was there ship was iced in.
They had to moved to another ship.
I would probably do the same thing.
